Tom, My oldest sister's much loved husband

Created by Ken 6 years ago

Tom became my brother-in-law 69 years ago.  He always treated me with great kindness and good humour.  His impact on my life was profound for being married to my big sister, Pat, I remained connected to the most significant place in my life that continues to impact on my life, Throwleigh and Gidleigh.  These two villages and the community within them have inspired me to work towards building a village community in the (Australian) suburbs via Cohousing.  Tom himself will be remembered by me with his deep Devon accent, his deep knowledge of farming in his locality, Clannaborough, his tweeds, his cap, his dogs, and his love of Pat.  He was an intelligent and wonderful man who treated all as equals.  I have many wonderful memories of his dry humour, I remember that when I commented that I didn't always understand his accent he commented "But I 'd speak proper posh for thee Jo"!
